AI has launched the new website of the Adeona Foundation, a New York City-based non-profit organization that provides support for the city's neediest children. The Adeona Foundation was founded in May 2008 by five friends living and working in New York City who wanted to make a profound impact on the community.
The Adeona Foundation aims to follow the example set forth by its namesake, Abeona, the Roman goddess known for protecting children as they left their home and ventured out into the world. Her counterpart, Adiona, was known as the goddess of safe return. Today, it is said these two deities are embodied as a single goddess: Adeona.
The Adeona Foundation hopes to make a difference in the lives of socially, physically and economically underpriveleged or disadvantaged children in the New York City region. It is the goal of the Adeona Foundation to provide a "leg up" for children who have been unfairly burdened by life's challenges. The Adeona Foundation hopes to achieve this goal by raising money through donations and fundraisers, which they will allocate to various children's causes consistent with The Foundation's objectives.
